If you have previous experience within a darkroom, or have attended one of my darkroom based workshops then you can hire the darkroom without tuition. Your booking is exclusive to you.​​

There are just a few of rules:

• You must attend a 20 minute induction. Not necessarily on the day of your booking due to Emily's schedule.

• You must be able to evidence prior experience within a darkroom​

• You must not take more than your fair share. Please see 'what's included' for more info

• Ideally you will have Public Liability insurance (Artists Now offer this for £38 per year as part of their membership)

Additional costs may incur for large quantities of film developing to cover the additional costs of chemical usage & negative sleeves.​

Your booking will gain you exclusive hire of the darkroom.

If you are booking as a group, each group member must have darkroom experience. 

Please note: Darkroom printing paper is not included due to the nature of darkroom printing.

Paper can be purchased locally from Canterbury Camera Centre.

The darkroom is equipped with:

• 4 enlargers - 3 suitable for medium format and 35mm printing, and 1 suitable for 35mm only

• 1 paper dryer suitable for resin-coated (RC) papers

• Traditional photographic paper and film chemicals

• Film developing for up to 5 rolls - if you wish to develop more than 5 rolls, please consider making a donation using the link at the end of the page

• 35mm and 120 negative sleeves - up to 5 are provided as part of the booking. If you require more than this, please consider making a donation using the link at the end of the page. Please only take what you need.

• A range of photographic equipment, including a light box, various-sized trays, tongs, changing bags, developing tanks, measuring cylinders, a loupe, focus finders, and other darkroom essentials

• Epson scanner suitable for 35mm, slide, and 120 negatives. As this is my personal home scanner, prior request is required.

• Cyanotype chemicals - available upon request at an additional cost
  
  Equipment & Inventory

• All darkroom equipment must remain on site unless otherwise agreed in advance.

• Please only take and use what you need for your booking, so that supplies and equipment remain available for other users.

• An inventory of the equipment is completed before and after each booking to ensure everything is accounted for and remains in good condition.

• Any damage to equipment or facilities must be reported to Emily by email as soon as possible.

• If you use the last of any consumable or supply, please email Emily to let her know so it can be replaced for the next user.
